Rules
Official rules for Got Game Summer League.
GAME FORMAT & RULES
Game Format
Games consist of four 12-minute quarters, played on a running clock
The clock will stop only during the last 30 seconds of each quarter (1-3) and the last minute of the 4th quarter. There will be no stoppages other than that.
Overtime
Overtime will be decided by the “Golden Basket” rule (first team to score wins)
Fouls
Players are disqualified after 6 personal fouls
Teams enter the bonus on 7 team fouls per quarter
Free Throws
A shooting foul on a missed shot results in one free throw worth 2 or 3 points
A successful shot plus a foul results in an automatic 1 additional point (no free throw)
Out of Bounds
The referee doesn't have to control the ball before it is inbounded by a player – the flying inbound rule. Except for the last minute of the game.
Discipline and Respect
Any player receiving two technical fouls will be immediately ejected
All players are expected to show respect to referees and table officials – this is a critical element of our summer league.
Substitutions & Time-Outs
Substitutions may only be made during a dead ball and once the referee signals.
No timeouts allowed.
30-second breaks between each quarter – this requirement is non-negotiable to ensure each game can be played within the 3-hour window.
All other decisions made by league commissioners are final.
